Today's protest saw up to 50,000 people demonstrating in the capital of the European Union, including many who had travelled from France, Germany and other European countries to take part and voice their anger. Protesters yelled 'Liberty!' as they marched through the streets of Brussels (inset top, bottom right) and clashed violently with police (top left), while videos emerged of black-clad protesters attacking a building used by the European Union's diplomatic service, hurling projectiles at its entrance and smashing windows. White-helmeted police riot officers (centre) later sought to disperse protesters, who ignored instructions broadcast over loudspeakers that the demonstration was finished and that they should leave. Police water cannons fired powerful jets at protesters, while thick clouds of smoke and snaking trails of tear gas filled the air in the Belgian capital (bottom left). The demonstration called for an end to the country's tough Covid rules as the nation battles an Omicron 'tsunami' which has seen the number of daily infections rise to over 60,000. The sprawling crowd paraded through the Belgian capital in a protest much larger than previous demonstrations - though there have been multiple protests in Brussels in recent months which also saw participants clash with the police. Demonstrators at today's protest clutched signs slamming Belgium Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and the Covid Safe Pass. The Covid Safe pass proves that citizens are vaccinated or have tested negative and is required for entry into numerous venues.

A source close to her family told media that they wanted her to go back into rehab, saying: 'Katie’s been having a tough time recently and her behaviour in the past couple of weeks has become slightly erratic.

Firefighters were called to the Lore of the Land in Fitzrovia, central London, at 11.20am this morning as flames engulfed a balcony at the back of the building. Luckily for the Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels film director, firefighters managed to contain it to the balcony. The crews were called to the pub in Conway Street and put the fire out within approximately 40 minutes. Today's blaze came less than six months after the pub was left with a huge hole in its roof after a fire broke out on June 23 last year. That fire was so intense it caused first responders to vomit. Around 70 firefighters and 10 fire engines attended the Lore of the Land pub for the first fire where it is believed the blaze started in an extraction system from the first floor to the roof vent.
